F-75 & F-100 Therapeutic Milk Powder

F-100 and F-75 are therapeutic milk products designed to treat Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM). They are used in therapeutic feeding centers where children are hospitalized for treatment.

F-75 therapeutic milk

F-75 therapeutic milk is the “starter” formula: It contains 75 kcal and 0.9 g protein per 100ml.

F-75 is specially made to meet the child’s needs without overwhelming the body’s systems at this early stage of treatment. F-75 is low in protein and sodium and high in carbohydrate, which is more easily handled by the child and provides much-needed glucose. When the child is stabilized (usually after 2−7 days), she/he can be given the “catch-up” formula, F-100 to rebuild wasted tissues.

F-100 therapeutic milk is the “catch-up” formula, with 100 kcal and 2.9 g protein per 100 ml.

F-100 and other therapeutic nutritional products are widely used by a number of humanitarian aid organizations, such as UNICEF, Action Against Hunger, Valid International, and Médecins Sans Frontières, when treating severe malnutrition among vulnerable populations.

Therapeutic milk is not enriched milk. It is a blended food on milk basis.

Safe Preparation of Therapeutic Milks F75 and F100:

Always dilute with perfectly clean water. Once reconstituted the milk should be used within 2 hours. It should be kept in its original packaging. Once opened, the contents of a sachet must be entirely used up immediately. Destroy milk powder if the color or the smell or the aspect of the milk has changed, even if the expiry date is not yet reached, since there is a risk of of organoleptic change of the product.

Please note:

F-75 & F-100 are especially designed for therapeutic feeding programs and must be restricted to the treatment of severe malnutrition. This product already contains all the elements necessary for the treatment of severe malnutrition (all vitamins and minerals as per nutritionist recommendations)
This milk is not suitable for long term feeding of well-nourished children
Each bag of 456 g contains the appropriate quantity to be diluted in 2 litres of boiled water to obtain 2.4 litres of high energy milk (dry extract: 190g/litre)
Type F100 is ideally used as per UNDP and WHO specifications, and the F75 type to be used in the first days of the nutritional recuperation

This product must be used in therapeutic re-nutrition centres with medical supervision.

The “catch-up” formula F-100 is used to rebuild wasted tissues. F-100 contains more calories and protein: 100 kcal and 2.9 g protein per 100 ml.
